BIO
I am running because I want to give back to a community that has given me so much. I was born here in Chattanooga and grew up in the 10th Senate District. After I graduated from college and law school, I faced a decision about where to live. I wanted to live in a place where a person could live their faith, love their family, and stand with their neighbor. I wanted to come home to Chattanooga.
Since moving back here, I have been active in community activities, serving on the board for the Siskin Children's Institute, an organization that benefits children with disabilities, and WTCI, the local Public Broadcasting Station.
I have also been working on issues related to the public school system. My oldest daughter, Hannah, is a second grader at Normal Park, a public school here in Chattanooga (my younger daughter will begin in 2008-09). Last year I was on the board of the PTA and on the superintendent's Parents Advisory Council.
As an attorney, I have enjoyed representing and helping people. Whether it's helping someone who was discriminated against for his military service or talking to someone who just needs some advice, I am happiest when I end the day knowing that someone's life has been made better. I hope to keep doing that as State Senator for Hamilton and Marion Counties.
